senseOFcommunity #11 :galleria SPIAZZI | Venezia | 3-10.10.2014 | a cura di Silvia Petronici // in collaborazione con associazione culturale SPIAZZI e SPIAZZI VERDI || INFO: SPIAZZI | infospiazzi@gmail.com | http://infospiazzi.blogspot.it/ | Silvia Petronici | curatore indipendente di arte contemporanea | gavagai.art@gmail.com | www.silviapetronici.eu.
senseOFcommunity #11 // venezia | the community spirit of art in the 2.0 society SPIAZZI Gallery | residence both for artists and curators on “site specific” artistic practices edited by Silvia Petronici. Site specific installation. 300 hexagonal modules of side 7 cm made of black sponge with serigraphy, overall size environment. The installation in the first two rooms of the Gallery consists in the floor composition of the sponge modules on which triangular wedges we read the word “semo” (i.e. silly) that in the sequences of juxtaposition of the modules it is composed to form the word “mose”. The work makes reflect upon the theme of collective responsibility and the development of a thought and a shared answer to the problems posed by living in a territory. The surrounding environment and its criticality can and maybe must return to the center of a widespread awareness and its consequences in terms of Community intervention on the substance of these critical issues. In the Venetian language the word “semo” may mean “silly” as also allude to the plural dimension with the meaning of “siamo (we are)”. Starting from these reflections the artist gives a his own poetical answer to the age-old question about the Mose project, by studying the usage of the sponge for the final form of his work. The sponge so that simply dries and retains excess water as well. The excellent fact of this work stays also in its production process which included the involvement of a leading sector company which chooses to support the project by sharing intentions*. The artist shows the virtuos connection among imagination, the poetical position about serious issues and technology which can in turn be queried for the search of solutions. The artist sums up the thinking behin his work: “on the edge of you the other begins and encountering, something happens”. *work realized with the support and contribution of Martini S.p.A.
